Making an Appointment

Making an Appointment
Initially we offer a one-off session which lasts for 50 minutes. This gives you a chance to talk through your concerns with a Relate trained counsellor, who will help you consider how you wish to go forward. These appointments are usually available within 2-14 days We can usually make you a provisional appointment when you first phone. See below.

Where can you get an Appointment?
At present all of our appointments are at our offices in Watford or Hemel Hempstead.

Payment
We ask you to pay £45 for this first consultation and all subsequent appointments, however no-one is turned away because they are unable to pay. If you are on a low income, please discuss this when you first contact us. We do receive some funding from the local authorities and other sources, but this does not cover our full costs. You may pay by credit/debit card, cheque or cash.

After making an Appointment
We will send you a letter or eMail with details of the appointment and an Information Pack, which you should read before the first consultation. To secure your appointment, you will need to make a prepayment. Details of how to do this will be explained to you. Counselling and therapy take place in Relate's private counselling rooms.

Do you live locally?
We receive funding from four local councils - Dacorum, Watford, Three Rivers and Hertsmere. If you do not live in one of these areas you are still able to attend for counselling at the centre, but we need to ask for a minimum payment of £45 per session.

Further Counselling or Therapy
If you have agreed that further appointments will be helpful to you this will be noted by the counsellor. As soon as a regular slot is free at a time you have indicated you are available, we will contact you. The more flexible you are with availability, the sooner this will be.
